Since 1998, we have given over HKD200
million in charitable donations and community
sponsorships, including HKD22 million
in 2007. We provide financial and volunteer
support for a wide range of beneficiaries,
including the Community Chest of Hong
Kong and various youth, elderly persons
and environmental protection programmes.
Our community sponsorship activities
focus primarily on education, the environment
and support of sports and the arts. |

Since 1996, the Bank has allocated
over HKD82 million to local, mainland
China and overseas scholarship schemes,
benefiting more than 1,200 students. |

Since 1991, we have given
over HKD25 million to support table tennis
development in Hong Kong. This includes
our sponsorship of the Hang Seng Table
Tennis Academy, which since its establishment
in 2001 has helped more than113,000 participants
enhance their sporting skills. |

In 2006, our Staff Volunteer Team
gave over 9,000 hours of their time to
participate in a wide spectrum of voluntary
projects. Activities organised included
tree-planting in Ma On Shan Country Park,
mooncake making and hairdressing services
for the elderly, and a Christmas party
for chronically ill children. |
