Points redemption for gifts? Reliable investment? It may be a scam!

Please safeguard your credit card and banking information, including One-Time-Password (OTP)

In addition to be used for payment transactions, OTPs are also used to authenticate your identity to bind your credit card to stored value facilities. If the one-time password was entered correctly, it means that the transaction has been authorized by you and you have agreed to allow the merchant to charge your credit card. Even if you dispute the transaction later, we cannot stop or cancel the transaction.

Scammer always says...

"Your membership points will be expired soon..."

Fraudsters set up fraudulent websites and send phishing emails/sms etc., using a pretext that your membership points are about to expire to lure victims into entering credit card information and one-time passwords to redeem gifts.

Before authorizing the transaction, please ensure that you have verified the contents of the one-time password, including but not limited to the last 4 digits of the credit card number, transaction type, merchant name, transaction currency and amount, etc. are correct.

"Low risk but high profitable investment..."

Fraudsters lure victims into investing and downloading fake mobile applications, and lure them to increase their investment amount with a small monetary return as bait. When the victim wants to get back the principal and profits, the scammer will procrastinate and request you to pay with different excuses.

Do not download or install any suspicious software or mobile apps via link and invest carefully!

Bank smart! Let's fight scam together!

In order to raise public awareness of suspicious calls originating from outside Hong Kong, starting from this month, mobile network operators in Hong Kong have started to send a standard alert message 'Call is from outside Hong Kong. Beware of deception.' to the mobile user receiving an incoming "+852" call. Even if the caller number display has no "+" sign, members of the public should always stay vigilant when using telecommunications services and never disclose personal information or transfer money to unknown callers to protect themselves from losses.
