Coverage also includes loss of rent, temporary accommodation, losses caused by unauthorised use of Hang Seng Credit Card, as well as worldwide personal liability. Besides, optional cover of Developer’s Fixtures and Fittings is available to meet the needs of householders of newly developed buildings. If you or your family has a valid policy of the Travelsure Protection Plan, the maximum benefit of “Worldwide All-Risks Cover for Personal Belongings” under your Home Care Plus Home Insurance Plan will even be doubled, as a free upgrade, during the insured journey. Key Coverage Highlights
- Coverage against damage to household contents due to explosion, fire, theft, malicious damage, flood, typhoon, landslide or other accidents, with a maximum claim of HKD1,000,000 per event

While Mr. Yiu was on a vacation with his family, their home was burgled and his Hang Seng Credit Card was stolen, causing a huge loss to him.
Unfortunately, the bathtub in the unit upstairs leaked, causing a mold on the ceiling of Mr. Yiu’s bathroom during the same period. Together, the two incidents incurred a loss of HKD150,000.
On the bright side, Mr. Yiu, made the right choice to enrol in a Home Care Plus Home Insurance Plan before the trip. By providing the relevant supporting documents, Mr. Yiu received compensation of HKD148,700, net of the excess
Then, in Mr. Yiu’s leased apartment, there was a toilet flushing water leakage due to a burst pipe, resulting in all the furniture and wooden flooring being soaked in seawater. Moreover, the water also went through the ceiling below. Not only was Mr. Yiu liable for the heavy bill for the repair works for the leased apartment, but he also lost the rental income during the renovation period. Besides, he received a claim for damage relating to this incident from the owner of the apartment below. Totally, he suffered a loss of HKD100,000.
As Mr. Yiu had already enrolled in a Home Care Plus Home Insurance Plan for the leased apartment, including optional cover for Developer’s Fixtures and Fittings, he was also indemnified for the accidental damage to such household contents. By providing the relevant supporting documents, based on the scope of coverage of his policy, Mr. Yiu received compensation of HKD99,200, net of the excess. He could also have peace of mind that the claim from the owner of the apartment below, which would also be taken care of on his behalf by QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited.
Home Care Plus Home Insurance Plan FAQ
Generally speaking, all residences aged 40 years or below can be accepted for this insurance. For old buildings aged over 40 years of age, buildings with structural defects (including known or suspicious nature), detached houses or village houses and the like, please call QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited Customer Service Hotline during office hours for enquiry. If the gross area of the unit exceeds 2,500 sq.ft. (saleable area of the unit exceeds 1,950 sq.ft.) , the premium is subject to conditions set by QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited.
No, the basic cover of "Home Care Plus Home Insurance Plan" offers a comprehensive coverage for household contents (furniture, decorations, electrical appliances and personal belongings, etc.) with the exception of building structure, which refers to the concrete, reinforcement bars and the structural portions of a building provided by the developer at the time of occupation, such as walls, main door and sanitary fittings. “Home Care Plus Home Insurance Plan” covers the interior decoration made by you or previous occupants. If you would like to cover the developer’s fixtures and fittings, you can insure the new optional cover of “Developer’s Fixtures and Fittings”, covering the flooring, skirting, wall and ceiling paint works, wall tiles, iron gate, doors, door frames, kitchen utensils, bathroom utensils and washroom utensils which are provided by the developer.
If the home is unoccupied for 30 consecutive days, no compensation will be made for losses of household contents unless such damages are caused by fire, flooding, lightning, explosion, earthquake and typhoon. If the Insured or his/her family is travelling with an inforced Travelsure Protection Plan (including Single Trip Cover/ Annual Global Cover/Annual China Cover), the home content covering period for unoccupied home is extended to the entire journey with maximum 180 days. (subject to 180 days for maximum coverage for Single Trip Cover and 60 days for Annual Global Cover/Annual China Cover)

Yes, you can. The coverage only extends to the property owner's household contents of the insured address, temporary accommodation/ loss of rent, replacement of doors and windows, door keys and locks due to burglary and worldwide personal liability benefit (limited to overseas travel for not more than 30 days).
No, you can only claim either Temporary Accommodation benefit or Loss of Rent for your insured property for the same loss.
Fire outbreak is an insurable risk and protection is provided if the damaged properties are household contents.
If the insured address does not include the flat roof or garden, protection against legal liability in the event of the insured or any family member's negligence causing third-party death, bodily injury or property damage arising therefrom will not be covered. Therefore, it is necessary for the insured to include the flat roof and garden clearly in the insured address in order to get the 'Worldwide Personal Liability Benefit'.
If the Insured or his/her family is travelling with an inforced Travelsure Protection Plan (including Single Trip Cover/ Annual Global Cover/Annual China Cover), he/she will enjoy the free cover extension automatically during the entire journey. The above general insurance plan (“Plan”) is underwritten by QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited which is authorised and regulated in Hong Kong by the Insurance Authority. Hang Seng Bank Limited (“Hang Seng Bank”) is an insurance agent authorised by QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited for the distribution of this Plan. Premiums will be payable to QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited upon application of this Plan. QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited would provide Hang Seng Bank commission and performance bonus as remuneration for distribution of this Plan. The existing staff remuneration policy on sales offered by Hang Seng Bank takes into account various aspects of the staff performance instead of focusing solely on the sales amount.
In respect of an eligible dispute arising between the Hang Seng Bank Limited and the customer out of the selling process or processing of the related transaction, Hang Seng Bank Limited is required to enter into a Financial Dispute Resolution Scheme process with the customer; however any dispute over the contractual terms of the product should be resolved directly between QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited and the customer.
