FAQs and Examples

New Fund refer to the "Eligible New Fund Balance", meaning the incremental balance when comparing the latest deposit balance with the balance of the same currency as of 15 calendar days ago, after deduction of the sum of principal amount which has been entitled to new fund offer of Time Deposit within the last 15 calendar days (including the time deposit placement day).
The balance of all accounts, including Savings Accounts, Current Deposit Accounts and Time Deposits (whether accounts in sole name or joint name), will be counted towards the calculation of "Eligible New Fund Balance". The Bank reserves the right of final decision should there be any dispute in the definition of "Eligible New Fund Balance".

Remarks: For activation of foreign currency sub-account of Integrated Account via inward transfer/foreign exchange, it takes one working day to refresh the Eligible New Fund Balance.

The above illustration is taking HKD as example, and the same method is also applicable to other types of currency when calculating "Eligible New Fund Balance".
For Hang Seng Personal e-Banking and Hang Seng Mobile App, the transaction time is 8am to 8:30pm, Mondays to Fridays, and 8am to 4:55pm, Saturdays (only applicable to HKD). If the Time Deposit is placed outside the transaction time, or on any Sunday, Hong Kong public holiday, holidays of the country or region where the currency is issued, or non-clearing day due to adverse weather condition such as typhoon signal or rainstorm warning, you will not be able to enjoy the new fund preferential rate offer. If you would like to enjoy the New Fund Time Deposit Offer, please place the related Time Deposit during the transaction time.

  • Log on to Hang Seng Personal e-Banking, select "Account Services" > "Time Deposits" from the drop-down list.
  • Click "View details" for the New Fund Time Deposit Offer details.
  • Click "Set up time deposit".

  • You can also click on the deposit record(s) under the tab "Existing deposit" to view the details or amend the maturity instruction, or click on the tab "Pending deposit" to check or amend your forward-dated Time Deposits.

  • Select the "Deposit term" and choose "Now" as the "Deposit date".
  • Select "Deduct from account", "Time deposit account" and "Maturity instruction", then click "Next".

For time deposit instructions submitted outside the transaction time (Sunday, Hong Kong public holidays, holidays of the country or region where the currency is issued, and non-clearing days due to adverse weather conditions such as typhoon signals or rainstorm warnings), they'll be processed on the next working day. Also, time deposits placed outside trading hours will not be eligible for the New Fund Time Deposit Offer.
