FAQ
1.
Can I apply for the bonds of different tranches?
You can apply for the bonds of different tranches separately. Please follow the respective amount requirements.
2.
Is the on-line application service available 24 hours a day?
Applications can be made round-the-clock, and you can submit your application any time from the commencement date till the close of the subscription period. Please note, if you submit the application during Bank’s system non operation hours (i.e from Monday to Friday during 8:30pm to 7:30am of the next morning, and on Saturday during 5:30pm to Monday 7:30am, and any Public Holiday(s)), even though the Bank may have received your application instruction, your application may still be rejected on the following business day due to reasons such as Insufficient Funds etc. To confirm the status of your application, an electronic message will be sent to your e-Banking “INBOX”, which is located under the “MENU” tab in your Hang Seng e-Banking webpage on the next business day after your online submission.

How do I know my application through the internet is complete?
To complete your application, you should ensure that you have received an application number. Please note, if you submit the application during Bank’s system non operation hours (i.e from Monday to Friday during 8:30pm to 7:30am of the next morning, and on Saturday during 5:30pm to Monday 7:30am, and any Public Holiday(s)), even though the Bank may have received your application instruction, your application may still be rejected on the following business day due to reasons such as Insufficient Funds etc. To confirm the status of your application, an electronic message will be sent to your e-Banking “INBOX”, which is located under the “MENU” tab in your Hang Seng e-Banking webpage on the next business day after your online submission.

Can I amend or cancel my application?
No matter which application method you use, you cannot amend or cancel your application once it has been completed.

What should I do if my internet connection is interrupted before I complete the application process?
Your application is not complete until you have received the application number. If your internet connection is interrupted before you complete the application process, you should ignore this application and submit a new one.

How do I know whether my application is successful or not?
You will receive a confirmation letter by mail for the subscription and allotment result of the bonds. Newly allotted bonds will be deposited into your Securities Account on the issue date according to the schedule announced by the bond issuer.
7.
How will I be refunded if my online application is unsuccessful or partially successful?
If your application is wholly or partially unsuccessful, we will credit the excess funds to your payment account according to the schedule described in the offering document.
8.
What are the "application price" and "application amount"?
The application price is expressed as a percentage of the principal amount of the bonds and is specified by the bonds issuer according to the mechanisms set out in the offering document. It is usually set at a level that is intended to facilitate subscription and allotment logistics and is not intended to reflect any expectation as to the subscription price of the bonds. The application amount is the amount equal to the principal amount of bonds that you applied for plus the premium and handling fee. You will pay this application amount when you submit the bonds application.
9.
What are the "subscription price" and "subscription amount"?
The subscription price is expressed as a percentage of the principal amount of the allotted bonds. The percentage will be determined on the price-fixing date specified by the bonds issuer according to the mechanisms set out in the offering document. It may be equal to, less or more than the application price. Subscription amount is equal to the subscription price plus the handling fee of the subscription price of the bonds actually allotted to you.
10.
How does it affect me if the application amount and subscription amount are different?
If the subscription amount is less than the application amount, the difference will be refunded to you as per the schedule announced by the bonds issuer. Please refer to the offering document for details.
