This plan is underwritten by QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited.

Our Domestic Helper Insurance Plan (“Domestic Helper Insurance”) (Comprehensive plan) offers protection for your domestic helper, including in the event of hospitalisation, surgical expenses and repatriation expenses coverage. It also covers legal liability of the employer under the Employees' Compensation Ordinance and any financial losses arising from infidelity or proven unauthorised long distance calls made by the domestic helper.

Key features

This Domestic Helper Insurance provides up to HKD100,000,000 coverage for the domestic helper's death or incapacity resulting from an accident arising out of and in the course of employment.

This Domestic Helper Insurance provides up to HKD2,000 clinical expenses coverage per year, up to HKD1,000 emergency dental expenses coverage per year, and up to HKD25,000 hospitalisation and surgical expenses coverage per year.

This Domestic Helper Insurance provides up to HKD10,000 coverage for the costs of returning the remains of or repatriating the foreign domestic helper to the country of origin due to death, injury or medical inability to continue employment.

Infidelity covers the financial losses up to HKD10,000 arising from any proven dishonest act committed by the domestic helper. 

This Domestic Helper Insurance covers outstanding charges for proven unauthorised long distance calls made by the domestic helper, up to HKD3,000 per year.

FAQs

Yes. The insured domestic helper must be between the age of 18 and 60, starting on the domestic helper insurance policy effective date.

Yes. The proposer should be the same person of employer under employment contract with insured domestic helper.

According to the current Employees' Compensation Ordinance, the employer shall be responsible for the compensation payable to all employees injured in the course of employment. However, the insured territory under the domestic helper insurance policy is limited to Hong Kong. Hence, the employer should notify the insurer before traveling outside Hong Kong with his / her helper and shall pay an additional premium for such extension.

Yes. The insured employer must notify QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited in writing of the changes to the insured helper's information, including the helper's name, identity card / passport numbers and date of birth.

This benefit covers the direct loss of money or property arising from any proven dishonest act committed by the domestic helper. The employer must immediately report the act to the police and shall obtain compensation from QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited upon conviction of the domestic helper in court2

No. The helpers must be legally employed as domestic helper from overseas, who must be between the age of 18 and 60.

No. If you have already insured with the same protection under another domestic helper insurance policy, QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited shall not be liable to pay or contribute more than its rateable proportion of any such claim, costs and expenses incurred.

There is a waiting period of 14 days counting from the effective date of the domestic helper insurance policy in respect of medical expenses and/or hospital / operation charges arising from disease.

Other point(s) to note

  1. Insurance products offered by QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited are only available for subscription for residents of the HKSAR.
  2. The above general insurance plan ("Plan") is underwritten by QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited which is authorised and regulated in Hong Kong by the Insurance Authority. Hang Seng Bank Limited ("Hang Seng Bank") is an insurance agent authorised by QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited for the distribution of this Plan. Premiums will be payable to QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited upon application of this Plan. QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited would provide Hang Seng Bank commission and performance bonus as remuneration for distribution of this Plan. The existing staff remuneration policy on sales offered by Hang Seng Bank takes into account various aspects of the staff performance instead of focusing solely on the sales amount.
  3. In respect of an eligible dispute arising between the Hang Seng Bank Limited and the customer out of the selling process or processing of the related transaction, Hang Seng Bank Limited is required to enter into a Financial Dispute Resolution Scheme process with the customer; however any dispute over the contractual terms of the product should be resolved directly between QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited and the customer.
