This plan is underwritten by QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited.

Our Part-time Domestic Helper Insurance Plan (“Part-time Domestic Helper Insurance”) provides medical coverage to the part-time helper as per the Employees’ Compensation Ordinance. It protects employers against legal liability arising from bodily injury or death by accident or disease of the part-time helper.

This Part-time Domestic Helper Insurance covers the liabilities as an employer under the Employees' Compensation Ordinance in respect of injury or death of part-time helper due to an accident arising out of and in the course of employment up to HKD100,000,000, including:

  1. accidental death
  2. medical attendance and funeral expenses
  3. permanent total or partial incapacity
  4. permanent incapacity
  5. temporary incapacity
  6. usage of prostheses surgical appliances; and
  7. medical expenses

The part-time domestic helper insured shall be between the age of 18 and 60.

The policy covers both male and female part-time domestic helpers but he / she cannot work more than 20 hours a week and his / her annual income may not exceed HKD60,000.

It is not necessary to produce any written agreement as proof to apply for this Part-time Domestic Helper Insurance Plan. However, the written agreement is required for claims application.

To enrol this Part-time Domestic Helper Insurance, the proposer is only required to provide his/her personal information and make the following declarations in respect of the part-time domestic helper:

  1. Annual Income of Part-time Domestic Helper
  2. Working Location of Part-time Domestic Helper
  3. Declarations
    • Is your Part-time Domestic Helper aged between 18 and 60?
    • Does your Part-time Domestic Helper work less than 20 hours per week?

According to the 'Immigration Ordinance', it is an offence if the overseas domestic helper works for an employer other than the one specified in the visa. Therefore, QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited will not accept an employees' compensation insurance policy proposed by an employer who employs a part-time overseas worker illegally.

  4. The above general insurance plan ("Plan") is underwritten by QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited which is authorised and regulated in Hong Kong by the Insurance Authority. Hang Seng Bank Limited ("Hang Seng Bank") is an insurance agent authorised by QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited for the distribution of this Plan. Premiums will be payable to QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited upon application of this Plan. QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited would provide Hang Seng Bank commission and performance bonus as remuneration for distribution of this Plan. The existing staff remuneration policy on sales offered by Hang Seng Bank takes into account various aspects of the staff performance instead of focusing solely on the sales amount.
  5. In respect of an eligible dispute arising between the Hang Seng Bank Limited and the customer out of the selling process or processing of the related transaction, Hang Seng Bank Limited is required to enter into a Financial Dispute Resolution Scheme process with the customer; however any dispute over the contractual terms of the product should be resolved directly between QBE General Insurance (Hong Kong) Limited and the customer.
