Graduation trip

Ms. So went to graduation trip with friends and she used her credit card for all spendings around HKD 5,000. She decided to apply a 6-month instalment and only need to pay a one-off handling fee of HKD 35 for the first month.

Monthly repayment3 for Ms. So

1st Month:

= (Instalment amount ÷ Repayment period) + One-off handling fee

= (HKD 5,000 ÷ 6) + HKD 35

= HKD 868.4


2nd - 6th Month:

= (Instalment amount ÷ Repayment period)

= (HKD 5,000 ÷ 6)

= HKD 833.4

Paying insurance bill by instalment

Mr. Wong settled an insurance bill worth HKD 28,000 via e-Banking with his Hang Seng credit card, but he does not want to settle the card balance in one go. He decided to apply Spending Instalment to settle the card transaction by 36-month instalment with personalized monthly handling fee 0.18%.

Monthly repayment3 for Mr. Wong

= (Instalment amount ÷ Repayment period) + Monthly handling fee

= (HKD 28,000 ÷ 36) + (HKD28,000 x 0.18%)

= HKD 828.2

Monthly / One-off Handling Fee Plan

  1. One-off Handling Fee Plan only applicable for customers who are NOT holding any Hang Seng Credit Card Cash Instalment or Spending Instalment during 1 July 2020 to 30 June 2021.
  2. The minimum total amount to apply for spending instalment is HKD 3,000, including local and overseas payment made at physical and online stores or online bill payment (except tax payment). For details for the designated spending categories, please refer to the related Terms and Conditions. Please apply spending instalment at least 7 working days prior to credit card statement due date.
  3. The above example is for reference only, for the actual monthly repayment amount, please refer to monthly statement.
  4. The 0.18% monthly handling fee is applicable to selected customers and designated instalment amount, and is for reference only. The handling fee is to be determined by Hang Seng from time to time for individual promotion. The annualized percentage rate (APR) of 0.18% monthly handling fee are as follows: 3.76% for 6 months, 4.04% for 12 months, 4.18% for 24 months, 4.20% for 36 months, 4.20% for 48 months, 4.19% for 60 months. The APR is calculated based on the requirement of the Code of Banking Practice. APR is a reference rate which expresses the fees and charges of respective product as an annualized rate. Please logon Hang Seng e-Banking or call 2998 6868 to check your personalized handling fee.
  5. If you fail to make full repayment of the statement balance specified in your credit card account statement on or before the payment due date of each month, you shall pay a finance charge and other charges on any monthly instalment amount due but unpaid at the prevailing interest rate applicable to your credit card account from the post date of such monthly instalment.
