The main difference is who shows the code and who scans it. When you're in mainland China or overseas, you can use Hang Seng Mobile App or JustPay to pay with QR codes at merchants that support Alipay.

  • Payment code: This is your unique QR code. To make a payment, you show it to the merchants for them to scan
  • Receiving code: This is the merchant's QR code. You can scan their code to pay

No, this service is free of charge.

You can use QR payments whenever you see the Alipay+ logo at merchants. This service is available in mainland China and over 55 countries (not applicable to Hong Kong region, the below list will be subject to change from time to time), covering everything from food and beverage, fashion, entertainment to daily necessities and more!

All the QR payments will be settled in HKD, so you don't need to exchange foreign currency in advance. We'll show you the daily exchange rate before you confirm each payment, so you'll know the exact payment amount. 

Yes. To keep your account safe, all QR payments have a daily limit.

Your payment limit depends on your existing "Mainland & overseas daily transfer limit" and "Non-registered payee daily transfer limit", whichever is lower. Please set these limits before making a payment.

Additionally, for payments to Alipay+ merchants in mainland China, there are separate annual payment limits and per transaction limits, which are required by local regulations and can't be adjusted. If the limit is exceeded, the payment won't be processed.

Yes. You can change your "Mainland & overseas daily transfer limit" and "Non-registered payee daily transfer limit" through these steps:

  • Hang Seng Mobile App: go to left menu, tap "Settings & Security" > "Transfer & pay" > "Set transfer & payment limits"; or
  • Personal e-Banking: tap "Transfer & Pay" > "Limit / Payee Settings" > "Limit Maintenance"

QR payment service is for making payments to Alipay+ supported merchants only.

To use QR Payment, you'll need to be registered for Personal e-Banking, have the Hang Seng Mobile App with your Mobile Security Key activated, and hold an eligible Hang Seng HKD account.

Yes. To keep your account secure, Hang Seng Mobile App or JustPay's payment code refreshes automatically every minute. Each code can only be used once.

Yes, QR payment is completed instantly. You can check your transaction record from the past 60 days in Hang Seng Mobile App or JustPay.

This depends on your payment method:

  • If you show the merchant your payment code: the amount will be entered by the merchant and you cannot change it 
  • If you scan the merchant's QR code: you may need to enter the amount yourself

Please confirm the payment amount with the merchant before making the payment.

No. QR payments are processed instantly, so they can't be cancelled once you've confirmed them.

Before you pay, please double-check the merchant’s name, payment amount and the account you're paying from.

If you need a refund or have a dispute, please contact the merchant directly. All refund requests are handled by the merchant, so we are unable to assist and and won't be responsible for any related losses.

Please note:

  • All refunds will be credited in HKD to the account used for the transaction
  • You'll need to cover any loss from exchange rate fluctuations
  • Your payment limit won't be restored after a refund
  • If you have any doubts about the transaction, please stop making any further payments to avoid financial loss

This depends on the payment amount.

  • For payments of HKD1,000 or less (or its equivalent): No extra authentication is needed
  • For payments over HKD1,000 (or its equivalent): You'll need to enter your 6-digit PIN or use biometric authentication to complete the payment

To keep your account safe, please remember:

  • Always keep your mobile phone and payment code safe
  • Your payment code is only valid at merchants offering Alipay+ payments in mainland China or overseas
  • Never share your payment code or any related information (such as screenshots) with anyone
  • Don't make payments to suspicious merchants

Here's how you can enable biometric authentication:

On Hang Seng Mobile App's logon page:

  1. On the logon page, tap "Enable Face ID / Touch ID"
  2. Enter your 6-digit PIN to complete the setup

After logging on Hang Seng Mobile App:

  1. Go to left menu, tap "Settings & Security" > "Device & app settings"
  2. Under the "Security" section, tap "Manage device" to enable the feature

Please go to the log-on page in Hang Seng Mobile App, tap "Log on with 6-digit PIN" > "Forgot your 6-digit PIN", then follow the instructions on screen to reset the PIN. You can also call us at (852) 2822 0228.
