As initiated and sponsored by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), the Banking Graduate Trainee Programme (BGTP) is inevitably a meaningful initiative to nurture young talents pipeline to support for the expansion of the financial industry and to drive the future of banking.

Programme highlight

This programme is going to equip you with valuable and practical banking knowledge and skills through diverse banking activities, on-to-job training and also professional training courses provided by HKMA and HKIB which will put you one step ahead of the rest.

Requirements

  • Graduates with a bachelor’s degree or above awarded locally or overseas in 2021 or 2022
  • Hong Kong residents with the right of abode in Hong Kong

Programme overview

Youth Placement Programme (“YP Programme”) is part of the Community COVID Support Programme. YP Programme offers 150+ 6-month placement opportunities for university graduate job seekers in the Bank. The programme enables graduates to acquire professional knowledge and experience in banking and provides a head start for graduates to pursue a career in the banking industry.

We are currently seeking high caliber professionals to join our department as Functional Trainee (“FT”). Upon completion of this 18-month FT program, the Functional Trainee will be developed as a competent Specialist Banker able to manage and grow a portfolio of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME) customers, with an aim to deepen relationships with our clients and strengthen HASE market position as SME preferred bank. Throughout the structured and fast-track programme, FT will learn and develop related job knowledge and experience by having comprehensive classroom training on business, products and services with senior management mentorship and also job attachment.

Principal responsibilities

  • Build and manage a portfolio of SME customers by promoting general banking services, cash management, loans and other banking products 
  • Develop and maintain cordial customer relationship by providing quality customer services 
  • Conduct regular and effective account reviews and enhance existing relationship via cross-selling 
  • Manage CDD risk, monitor suspicious behavior and take appropriate action in compliance with established policy and guideline, to protect the Bank’s interest

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree or above in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics preferred 
  • Fresh graduates or with less than one year of work experience in banking or professional firms 
  • Capable of communicating effectively, embracing changes and overcoming challenges with the ability to safeguard positive attitude under complicated situations and remain open to work with others from diverse cultures
