"Building Cover" is a protection designed exclusively for property owners. Provide coverage for fixtures provided by the developer or renovations by the former property owner, such as floors, windows, fixtures in bathrooms and kitchens.

Yes, we will provide "Personal Liability Cover" under the terms and conditions to the property owner. This covers the property owner's legal responsibility if the insured property cause damage to third-party property due to an accident (e.g. an accidental burst pipe damaging the elevator). It also covers for accidental damage to property owner's household contents (e.g. air conditioners or other appliances / furniture). Property owner will also be provided with benefits such as "Loss of Rent" or "Replacement of Windows, Door Locks and Keys" coverage according to the terms and conditions.

If the policyholder or the family members residing in the insured property take their pet for a walk and it unexpectedly loses control, causing injury to a third party, they may obtain coverage from "Home Care Plus Home Insurance Plan" of up to HKD10,000,000 per year under the "Pet Liability".

"Home Care Plus Home Insurance Plan" does not cover the loss or damage of any type of laptop and mobile phone, unless the mobile phone is lost from the insured property due to theft or burglary.

Coverage related

In general, if the accidental burst water pipe belongs to the insured property, and the accident does not involve any exclusions, and the policyholder is legally liable for the accident as the property owner, the policyholder may receive assistance under the "Personal Liability Cover".

If the insured property is unoccupied for 30 consecutive days or more without written consent from Chubb Insurance Hong Kong Limited, the household contents in the insured property will not be covered. Unless the loss is caused by fire, lightning, explosion, earthquake, typhoon, windstorm or flood.
If the policyholder or the family members residing in the insured property are insured by the "Travelsure Protection Plan" during the unoccupied period, the limitation of unoccupied period will be automatically extended to the last day of the insured period of that "Travelsure Protection Plan". (up to 180 days for a Single Trip, and up to 60 days for an Annual Global Cover / Annual China Cover). However, under any circumstances, "Home Care Plus Home Insurance Plan"" will only provide coverage for accidents that occur during the insured period.

No, "Home Care Plus Home Insurance Plan" does not cover any loss or damage caused by or attributable to or arising from wear and tear.

"Home Care Plus Home Insurance Plan" provides a compensation of HKD7,500 for each pet in Hong Kong in cases of accidental death or theft, and additionally offers up to HKD1,500 for funeral service coverage.

In the unfortunate event that the above situation occurs and you need to install barrier-free facilities in the insured property, the "Home Refurbishment" benefit under "Home Care Plus Home Insurance Plan" may provide appropriate assistance when needed.

No, you can only claim either actual rental loss or the cost of arranging temporary accommodation for the tenant, whichever is lower.

We will only provide coverage for insured accidents that occur after the policy commencement date.

Unless the policy was purchased with "Optional Building Cover", "Home Care Plus Home Insurance Plan" only provides coverage for windows damaged by theft, burglary or unauthorised entry to your premises.

  2. Personal Effects means any of your personal belongings which was physically carried or worn by you at the time of loss or damage anywhere in the world, but shall exclude cash or any kind of Money, or any Sporting equipment while being used during the course of Sporting activity, Mobile Phones, any kind of computers or tablets, computer systems and accessories.
  3. Uninhabitable means the condition of the Premises being unsafe for inhabiting and will require a period of time which exceeds twenty-four (24) hours, for the reinstatement of the Premises to be inhabitable.
  4. Excess for water damage to Contents Cover, Renovation, Decorations, Repair and Alteration Works Extension and Developer’s Fixtures and Fittings:
    • Building aged 40 years or below: HKD800
    • Building aged 41 to 50 years: HKD5,000 or 10% of adjusted loss, whichever is higher
    • Building aged 51 years or above: HKD5,000 or 15% of adjusted loss, whichever is higher

    • Exclusions

      Loss or damage which is caused by, arising from or in any way connected with:

    • Wear and tear, rust, corrosion, gradual deterioration and depreciation
    • Mechanical, electrical or electronic breakdown
    • Domestic animals and other wildlife
    • Malicious damage, vandalism
    • Deliberate damage to property by you – knowingly committing fraud
    • Any loss of damage or liability arising out of a Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.8 or above hoisted by the Hong Kong Observatory during the first 3 days from the first Commencement Date
  5. Such benefit is subject to an excess. The excess is applicable to each and every claim.
