You can buy and sell Stock Connect Securities via the Bank if you meet the following conditions:

1. maintain an integrated account with the Bank; and
2. activate the securities account under the integrated account, which has not applied for “Share Margin Service”; and
3. activate the RMB savings account under the integrated account; and
4. accept the Stock Connect Terms; and
5. provide consent on the Bank’s processing of your personal data as part of the Stock Connect Northbound Trading Service, including allowing the Bank to disclose and transfer your Broker-to-Client Assigned Number (“BCAN”) and client identification data (“CID”) to SEHK and SEHK to transfer the same to SSE/SZSE for registration, and the registration is accepted by SSE/SZSE. To avoid any inconvenience to your Stock Connect Securities trading, please have this registration done in advance.
   

Mainland investors are not eligible to register for Stock Connect Northbound Trading service. If you (or the other account holder in case of joint account) or your authorized persons and/or agents with authority to give Northbound trading instructions with respect to China Connect Securities are a Mainland investor which includes an individual that possesses Mainland identity documents or is a PRC Citizen (as defined in the Stock Connect Terms) resident or domiciled in the PRC, your registration will be rejected without notice. If you have obtained one-way permit or an identity document as proof of permanent residence in a country or region outside Mainland China, please bring along your Hong Kong Identity Card, Macao SAR Resident Identity Card or passport to any of our branches to update our record.

Under Northbound Investor ID Model, to trade Stock Connect Securities through our Stock Connect Northbound Trading Service, you need to provide customer consent to the Bank to process your personal data. You should read and accept the “Stock Connect Terms” and “Supplemental Personal Information Collection Statement” before providing customer consent.

1. Shanghai/Shenzhen A shares:
   • Stocks listed on SSE/SZSE that satisfy the eligibility criteria at any regular review will be accepted as eligible shares. For the eligibility criteria, please refer to the website of HKEX

   Excluding:

   • A shares not traded in RMB
   • A shares which are included in the “risk alert board”

   Note: According to Stock Connect trading arrangement, trading of SSE Securities (except STAR stocks)/SZSE Securities (except ChiNext stocks) under Northbound Trading is open to all Hong Kong and overseas investors including institutional and individual investors. Trading of STAR stocks/ChiNext stocks is limited to institutional professional investors.

    

2. Shanghai/Shenzhen Exchange Traded Funds (“ETFs”):
   • ETFs listed on SSE/SZSE that satisfy the eligibility criteria at any regular review will be accepted as eligible ETFs. For the eligibility criteria, please refer to the website of HKEX.

Northbound daily quota is set at RMB 52 billion for each of Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect and Shenzhen-Hong Kong Stock Connect, the same quota is shared among A shares and ETFs that are included for Northbound trading in Stock Connect.

Foreign investors mean investors who trade A shares through Qualified Foreign Investors (“QFI”, including Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (“QFII”) and RMB Qualified Foreign Institutional Investors (“RQFII”) and Stock Connect.

Under the current China rules, foreign investors who trade A shares are required to comply with the following foreign shareholding restrictions:

Single foreign investor

• Individual shareholding in an A-share cannot exceed 10% of total issued shares.
• When your shareholding reaches 9.9%, the Bank will stop accepting your buy order on that A-share.

Aggregate foreign investors

• Aggregate shareholding in an A-share cannot exceed 30% of the total issued shares
• When the aggregate shareholding in an A-share reaches 28%, HKEX will stop accepting further buy orders on that A-share, until shareholding lowers to 26%;
• When the aggregate shareholding in an A-share exceeds 30% and the excess is due to Stock Connect, HKEX will identify the relevant exchange participant (EP) and require the EP to follow the forced-sale requirements of HKEX. If the identified purchase order is yours, you have to sell the excess quantities within 5 SSE/SZSE trading days, otherwise, the Bank will force sell your excess quantities without prior notice.
