Investments Fund FAQ

 

General

If you have a Hang Seng Investment Funds Account(s), you can trade online after registering the "Investment Funds" of Hang Seng Business e-Banking. For customers without Investment Funds Account(s) and/or the related Hang Seng Business e-Banking Services, please contact our Relationship Managers or call Business Partner Direct at 2198 8000.

Subscription/Redemption/Switching

All funds with online offering documents provided by the respective fund houses can be subscribed through our e-Banking Services.

The minimum investment amount is HKD20,000 or its equivalent.

All funds under your current fund holdings can be redeemed through our e-Banking Services.

The minimum redemption amount is HKD20,000 or its equivalent, subject to a minimum holding requirement of HKD20,000 or its equivalent. If the remaining value of your fund holdings falls below the minimum holding requirement of the respective funds, you have to reduce your redemption amount or redeem all the holding units of the fund.

If we receive your order before respective investment fund's cut-off time, the order will be processed on the same day. However, if we receive your order after cut-off time, the Bank will provide the Fund Manager of the respective funds with all investment funds orders received after the cut-off time on the next business day for further processing. Please visit www.hangseng.com or contact our staff for details on the cut-off times prescribed by the Bank for receipt of subscription applications for different Funds.

Yes, but on this occasion, your order can only be processed on the next trading day no matter the order is submitted before or after the respective investment fund's cut-off time.

According to the requirement of the Securities and Futures Commission, only those investment funds with online offering documents (prospectus accompanied by recent financial reports) can be offered for customers to subscribe online. If you want to subscribe those funds which cannot be subscribed online, please contact our Relationship Managers or call Business Partner Direct at 2198 8000.

You can only use the fund denominated currency to make the subscription (i.e. you can use USD to subscribe an USD denominated fund). If you do not maintain sufficient account balance on your chosen fund denomination settlement account, you can make the online transfer or via foreign exchange instantly. You have to ensure there is a sufficient balance in your settlement account before submitting a subscription order. Otherwise, your order will be rejected.

Yes, you can also choose to receive your redemption proceeds in HKD and the redemption proceeds will be converted to HKD at the Bank's prevailing exchange rate on the settlement day.

Different funds have different cut-off time, you can view the detail in the Funds switching screen.

After you placed an order, we will send you an online acknowledgement with a reference number once we received your instruction. You can use this reference number to check the order status. For settled transaction, the holdings and transaction details can be enquired using the "Portfolio" function. Besides, we will send you a contract note confirming the details of your order by mail.

Once we have accepted your instruction, you cannot make any amendment / cancellation online.

You can use the "Settled Transactions" function to make enquiries on your settled transaction for a period of up to 60 calendar days.

Currently, these two services are not available on Hang Seng Business e-Banking. If you want to use any of these services, please contact our Relationship Managers or call Business Partner Direct at 2198 8000.

 

Settlement

We will deduct the subscription amount from your chosen fund denominated settlement account within the same trading day when we process your order. Therefore, please ensure that you have a sufficient balance in your account for settlement.

For fund subscription, it will normally take a few working days to deposit the units into your account. For fund redemption, it will take at least a week to deposit the redemption proceeds into your account. The actual time required for completing the subscription and redemption processes varies from fund to fund.

 

Fund Search and Market Information

We provide the following FREE market and fund information to you for your reference:

  • Market commentary and current promotion
  • Latest fund price, fund performance, investment holdings and asset allocation of the fund as well as the fund prospectus together with the latest financial reports

Fund prices and performance data will be updated on a daily and monthly basis respectively based on the available information from fund houses.

You may use the advanced search function to search for the fund(s) by selecting the following:

  • Fund house
  • Fund type
  • Investment market sector
  • Fund currency
  • Morningstar rating
  • Risk Level

You may obtain a copy of the prospectus for the funds distributed through Hang Seng Bank at any of our branches. If the fund can be traded online, then the prospectus will also be available at Hang Seng e-Banking site or www.hangseng.com.

 

Fee and Charges

Basically, you have to pay the subscription fee/preliminary charges and the annual management fee when investing in a fund. The subscription fee/preliminary charge is paid upon subscription. Certain funds offer an additional class of unit that charges a redemption fee at the first 3 years instead of a subscription fee for added flexibility. The annual management fee is the annual charge for managing the fund, which is incurred daily and reflected in the fund price. In addition, some funds may charge redemption fee or performance fee. For further details you should read the prospectus or summary prospectus of the fund.

Detailed fund subscription fee after deducting discount is shown on the subscription order input screen for your reference. We may offer a relevant discount on the subscription fee based on your integrated account held.
